Description of the routes
Marmaris — Kos — Turkey, GreeceThe bay of Marmaris has something in common with a lake (because of quiet waters) and offers an ideal yacht’s berth. Marmaris is a small nice city in Turkey, it borders with both Mediterranean and Aegean Seas. It is situated in a picturesque bay, surrounded by mountains and piny wood. Population is over 35000, and in high season it arrives at half million, because of the «tourist invasion». Centuries ago Marmaris (ancient Physkos) was a strategically important point for commerce on the route Anatolia-Rhodes-Egypt. In the 16th century Sulleiman Magnificent has created a citadel on the hill behind the harbor. You can have a look on its fragments in Marmaris Museum. There are also many other places of interests in this zone. Delikli island is situated on the right side of the coast, in southeast direction from Ekincik. The «pearl» of this island people call Delta Dalyan. This is a conservation area, with long golden beach. This place is also a «refuge» of loggerhead (caretta caretta) and blue crabs. Going to southeast you arrive to Sarigerme — a small village with a modern entertainment center. Piny wood, splendid sand beaches excite visitors and make them turn back to this place and enjoy the beauties of nature and comfort of civilization. Bay of Gocek, surrounded by beautiful piny wood, is one of the best places at Mediterranean coast for wind jamming. Ruins of Arymaxa (an ancient city in the southern par of bay) are framed by azure waters. In the opposite side, near the island of Tersane, there are Byzantium ruins with leavings of ancient dockyards.
